What are the responsibilities and job description for the GCCARD COMMODITY WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT position at Genesee County?
Salary: $15.00 Hourly ($31,200)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED -AND- the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must become certified as a Hi-Lo driver within the department as needed.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs routine skilled duties in the Commodity Food Program such as receipt and issuance of inventory under the supervision of the Warehouse/WX Coordinator; performs related duties as required.
STATEMENT OF TASKS:
- Maintains daily accurate electronic tracking for shipping and receiving of commodity inventory;
- Maintains accurate rotation of inventory control through FIFO protocol;
- Maintains accurate and precise records on commodity items issued and received from and to (drivers, store front, sites, donations, Saginaw);
- Maintains the flow of available commodity products for store front distribution;
- Maintains the flow of available commodity products for packaging lines;
- Assist volunteers with proper handling procedures for packaging CSFP and TEFAP items;
- Assist in keeping warehouse free of debris (water, dirt, pallets, bins, papers and trash);
- Maintain and monitor department safety protocol in the warehouse;
- Assist volunteers with department safety procedures within the warehouse (visible vest, boots);
- Assign and track drivers with daily commodity products for scheduled deliveries;
- Performs cleaning duties of warehouse areas as needed (floors, hallways, doors, bathrooms);
- Assist in packing of TEFAP and CSFP commodities as needed;
- Maintains equipment used for warehousing of inventory (fork trucks, pallet jacks; cleaning supplies and utensils).
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge and ability to use the Hi Lo power equipment used in the Warehousing Industry, including minor maintenance of such equipment;
- Ability to prepare and maintain required records and reports within the department;
- Ability to plan and coordinate production based activities;
- Ability to communicate both orally and written form;
- Ability to relate to economically disadvantaged persons;
- Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships;
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively and respectfully in a complex, multicultural work environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion;
- Ability to attend work regularly and work under stressful conditions;
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects;
- Ability to take direction as required;
- Ability to work under pressure.
