    POSITION: Behavior Interventionist

    DESCRIPTION OF THE DISTRICT
    Bentley Community Schools is a thriving K-12 school district located in the City of Burton, Michigan. We serve approximately 715 students across three schools and approximately 325 students in k – 5th grades, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for all. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavior Interventionist to join our team in fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for all students. The Behavior Interventionist will play a crucial role in promoting the safety and welfare of students and assist in maintaining a positive school environment.

    JOB SUMMARY
    The Behavior Interventionist will assist teachers, administrators, support staff, with the implementation of behavior intervention plans. They will work on executing de-escalation strategies, helping students develop proactive coping tools, and work with teacher to ensure a safe and productive learning environment. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, flexible, and patient when dealing with stressful situations.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
    • Take guidance from the principal to ensure students are supported.
    • Constantly monitor the safety and well-being of students; monitor student attitudes and encourage self-esteem; assist students with becoming increasingly independent.
    • Oversee instructional and other activities; work with individual students of varying academic levels or small groups for the purpose of supporting classroom.
    • Document and communicate disciplinary and attendance information and reminders.
    • Assist students with assignments.
    • Work directly with students in executing behavior interventions.
    • Work closely with students who are at-risk, particularly in emotionally healthy coping skills and proactive behavior modification.
    • Work directly with students in guiding positive behaviors in school.
    • Perform other academic and behavior support duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Must have a minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university
    • Utilize technology effectively and efficiently.
    • Positive attitude and model a good public image towards others.
    • Dependable, collegial, and a supportive person towards all employee groups in the building.
    • Firm discipline skills.
    • Able to work effectively and patiently with assigned students.
    • Able to handle confidential information with discretion.
    • Patient, understanding, and empathetic towards others.
    • Willing to take direction from supervisors and to show initiative.
    • Organized and willing to get trained in supporting Social Emotional Learning.
    • Creativity and a collaborative spirit.

    REPORTS TO: Building Principal
    WORKDAY/WEEK: School Year/35 hours per week
    STARTING DATE: ASAP

    MINIMUM PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE SKILLS
    • Ability to speak and hear clearly to communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues

    • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
