Genesee Patrons Cooperative Insurance Company is a property and casualty insurance carrier in the upstate New York region and is looking for a Customer Service Specialist for our Batavia, New York office.

Genesee Patrons offers a hybrid work schedule following a period of in-office training. The hybrid schedule requires 12 in-office days per month. This hybrid work benefit offers colleagues a flexible work schedule.
The Customer Service Specialist will be responsible for answering telephone calls, making payments, opening the mail, processing the daily mail deposit, processing returned mail, processing mortgagee changes, processing policy cancellations, processing other non-premium bearing changes, completing and approving the daily print job, processing InsVista returns, ordering supplies, printing reports, and taking on other duties as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Answers the company telephone, makes payments over the phone, answers questions, and transfers phone calls to the appropriate staff member
- Opens and distributes the mail, applies check payments, and scans checks to the bank
- Processes all, or parts of the daily print job through the Mass Printing portal
- Processes returned mail and delivers mail to the post office or mailbox as needed
- Processes mortgagee changes, LPRs, and other non-premium bearing changes in BriteCore
- Processes InsVista returns
- Sends certified mail and certificates of mailing
- Sends, receives, and distributes faxes.
- Greets visitors at the front desk
- Processes FileZilla
- Performs described duties without supervision and to the highest level of proficiency and output
- Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications & Skills
- Associates degree preferred
- Strong computer aptitude, which includes experience with Microsoft 365
- Prior customer service preferred
- Detail oriented
- Must work well both independently and in a team environment
- Strong organization, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Analytical skills with particular attention to detail
