Tooling Technician

Overview

The Tooling Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the manufacturing process by ensuring that all tooling and fixtures are properly maintained and repaired. They are responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges and ensuring their availability for production use.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspecting, disassembling, and reassembling tooling and fixtures
• Performing preventive maintenance on tooling equipment
• Identifying and resolving issues with tooling and fixtures in a timely manner
• Assisting in the installation and removal of tooling equipment
• Collaborating with engineering and production teams to optimize tooling performance
• Operating various tools and machinery to fabricate or modify tooling components
• Documenting maintenance activities and reporting on tooling performance
• Conducting regular inventory checks of tooling components and supplies
• Following safety protocols and regulations while working with tools and equipment
• Training and mentoring junior technicians in tooling maintenance best practices
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field
• 2 years of experience in tooling maintenance and repair in a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
• Strong understanding of tooling materials and fabrication techniques
• Ability to use precision measurement instruments such as micrometers and calipers
• Knowledge of CNC machining and programming is preferred
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement concepts
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Good physical condition and ability to lift heavy objects
• Adherence to strict safety guidelines and protocols
