Job Title : Medical Physicist

Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours per week
Experience : Open to candidates graduating from residency in 2025 who will be Board Eligible upon completion of residency
License : Must be or be willing to become registered as a Radiation Therapy Physicist in Iowa
Certifications : Board Eligible (with plans to become Board Certified) or Board Certified in Medical Physics by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP)
Must-Have : Clean malpractice history; Candidates requiring visa support (H1B or J1) will be considered
Job Description :
- Provide safe therapeutic radiological physics services to the Radiation Oncology Department.
- Ensure equipment safety and maintain quality patient care.
- Participate in teaching and collaborate with team members in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in patient-specific quality assurance, chart QA, linear accelerator QA, and plan checks.
- Support Radiation Oncologists, Dosimetrists, and therapists as needed.
- Work with the Chief of Physics to calibrate and commission linear accelerators and other radiation sources.
- Perform quality assurance of equipment and treatment plans.
- Implement new technologies as needed.
- Exhibit a strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Utilize Eclipse and Tomoplan software for planning.
- Participate in treatments using technologies such as SRS, SBRT, IMRT, DIBH, gating, SGRT, and 3D Conformal.
- Be a part of a multidisciplinary team with Physicists, Dosimetrists, Radiation Therapists, RNs, Office Secretaries, a Billing and Coding Coordinator, a Social Worker, and an Office Manager.
- Approximately 35 patients treated daily using two machines : TomoTherapy Hi-Art and Varian TrueBeam.
- Option for candidates seeking alternate shift schedules.
