Who we are: We are an intentional community dedicated to helping people living with serious and persistent mental illness, recover. Work is our therapeutic intervention. We assist people in returning to work and school, living independently, participating in their community, and developing a social support network. Genesis Club is a leader in the Clubhouse model of vocational rehabilitation, and one of 12 training centers for the model in the world. You are familiar with mental illness and have a minimum of three years working in human services, mental health or another closely related field.
What skills you need to do the job: You must be able to function as part of a team, organize tasks and spaces, and recognize barriers to people getting involved in special projects and the work of the day. Easily build rapport with people from many different backgrounds, maintain focus in an environment with interruptions and distractions, manage competing demands on time, remain relaxed and non-reactive when others are upset, stay alert and positive, coordinate and participate in small activities. Assist members in developing goal plans, feel confident using a computer and Microsoft Office products, and use standard office equipment.
What you’ll do on the job: Vocational Rehabilitation Staff share the work of employment/education, housing, wellness, community supports, social programming, and general department responsibilities.
Staff complete work with members, not for members. Staff assist members in developing their personal goals. Staff also provide training and coverage for 1 - 2 transitional employment jobs in the Worcester community, and contribute to job development efforts. Staff are expected to cover 1 to 2 Saturday shifts (10 to 2) during the year, along with a major and minor holiday.
Other Information:
