What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Specialist - Health & Safety position at GENESIS ENERGY, LLC?
Key Duties:
Support numerous facilities and field operations in all aspects of Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) initiatives, encompassing both routine operations and major projects within a designated geographical area.
Partner with stakeholders to foster an environment of trust and respect.
Participate in job plan calls and assist in the development of job plans and Job Safety and Hazard Analysis (JSHA) permits.
Conduct HSSE training and provide technical guidance to assist in training employees in safe work practices and compliance requirements.
Conduct and facilitate safety meetings.
Conduct facility audits to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, and procedures.
Respond to employees’ HSSE questions and concerns promptly, providing guidance in emergency situations during or after hours to address and resolve immediate HSSE issues.
Facilitate the investigation of incidents involving company and contractor employees as needed.
Coordinate ad-hoc safety projects such as industrial hygiene monitoring, safety equipment inspections, and fall protection surveys.
Leverage near-miss, incident, and regulatory inspection data, as well as audit and investigation findings to create actionable lessons.
Recommend enhancements to HSSE programs and procedures to help drive continuous improvement.
Stay informed about new and existing relevant laws, rules, and regulations, and take appropriate actions to ensure timely compliance and communication with relevant departments and stakeholders.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
High school diploma or GED
Minimum 5 years of HSSE related experience.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations and industry best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel up to 40% of the time with approximately 25% of that time requiring overnight travel.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Prior work experience Process Plant, Pipelines or Terminals, preferred.
Professional HSSE related degree or certification, preferred.
