POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the clinical support staff to ensure quality patient care and services. This position assists with implementation of policy and procedures and reaching departmental goals. The ADON will work closely with the Director of Nursing and other healthcare professionals to provide quality care.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Achieve Results
• Participate and suggest policies and procedures for the medical clinics including quality assurance/improvement in cooperation with the Director of Nursing.
• Implement training programs to provide needed skills to assigned staff members to ensure high-quality services.
• Suggest improvements to systems in response to data-driven outcomes discovered through quality assurance processes. • Implement strategies to improve patient-staff communication, responsiveness, and bedside manner
Operational Excellence
• Maintain policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, quality care, and satisfaction
• Lead or assist with process improvement trainings to ensures staff are equipped with the latest medical advancements and best practices to ensure quality of care
• Implement infection control practices by leading safety training sessions, to keep the team updated on the latest patient safety protocols and risk prevention techniques
• Assist with ensuring all staff are trained for their position and are evaluated quarterly and annually on their skill level per the evaluation checklist
• Assist clinic support staff in ensuring the medical clinic provides high-quality patient care as outlined by accepted medical practice expectations, industry norms, UDS and standing orders.
• Ensure supervisory staff are properly informed and directed on employee matters, and that clearly defined measurements of performance, accountability and rewards are utilized to enhance individual and organizational effectiveness.
• Ensure implementation of quality assurance activities and metrics with the clinical support staff
Relationships
• Establish and ensure favorable relationships throughout the organization.
• Develop positive and productive working relationships with staff, providers, and other departments.
Leadership/Supervision
• Assists with overseeing nursing staff and medical/clinic assistants
• Report areas of concern to supervisor who will oversee disciplinary processes
• Assist with conducting annual performance evaluations and implement individual staff development plans as needed
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KEY COMPETENCIES
• Implement comprehensive nursing and quality assurance programs to help provide the best medical services possible.
• Assist with implementing assigned grant program requirements that provide case management and patient education programs for the clinic.
• Implement programs to ensure quality training, appraisal, hiring and retention of the nursing/clinical staff
• Demonstrate success with guiding staff to meet overall organizational goals, objectives, and outcomes
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
• Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse
Experience
• 5 years of clinical experience is preferred
• 2 years of experience in a supervisory role preferred
• Must have strong working knowledge of computers, EMR, office automation software and related tools.
Physical/Environmental
• Travel across the service area required

• Able to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
• Position requires sufficient hearing level to effectively communicate with people directly or by telephone.
• Moderate physical activity. It may require handling average-weight objects up to 15-20 pounds, assisting with patients and standing and/or walking for most of the day.
• Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, unpleasant odor and/or loud noises.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to maintain sufficient visual acuity to read, write and operate equipment
• Position requires sufficient hearing level to effectively communicate with people directly or by telephone.
