Overview of Position :
Assists therapists, in an outpatient or inpatient care setting, by providing individual treatment for a variety of diagnoses and presenting symptoms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Completes inventory for supplies and orders as needed and stocks department appropriately.
2. Operates all department medical equipment including whirlpool, wound care equipment, oxygen tanks, and other physical agent modalities.
3. Assist with filing, copying, and other clerical functions.
4. Prepares, maintains, and cleans up treatment areas following patient care.
5. Completes orientation in home department and cross training to cover patient care in other departments as requested by manager.
6. Ensures wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and all other department equipment is cleaned according to hospital policy.
7. Assists with proper patient transfers to ensure safety for patients and therapists.
8. Assists with orientation of new staff and / or students.
9. Demonstrates competence in age-specific patient care.
10. Performs other functions as assigned.
11. Completes morning physical therapy patient assignments in EPIC (inpatient setting only).
12. Ability to collect basic patient vital signs such as SpO2, blood pressure, and respiratory rate (inpatient setting only).
13. In addition to individual treatment, provides self-care information to patients (inpatient setting only).
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Completion of high school diploma or equivalent.
2. Current CPR, or obtain within three months of hire.
3. Ability to read, write, and explain or describe basic information.
4. Must focus on multiple tasks simultaneously.
5. Good oral and written communication skills.
6. Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be capable of assisting with transfer of patients (lifting / moving minimum of 50 lbs).
2. May be required to periodically rotate shifts and regular days off. All system employees must be willing to work all shifts, extra hours, holidays, and emergency shifts as required.
3. Employee may be required to travel to other floors, hospital locations, campuses, and / or to drive to other locations.
