Genesis House Inc., is a Domestic and Sexual Assault advocacy center in Cookeville, TN. We provide an array of services for survivors, which include shelter and housing, case management, court advocacy, goods assistance, and so much more.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Database Specialist, you will be integral to managing and optimizing our database by providing oversight and technical assistance.
Case Management
· Respond to Crisis Calls including the Lethality Assessment Program (LAP) calls from law enforcement.
· Conduct residential intake and maintain residential files.
· Provide assessment, case planning, and Resident Action Plans to residents based on their individual personalities and situations, including use of the SASP assessment tool.
· Maintain current file of referral agencies and services.
· Develop professional working relationship with referral agency staff members.
· Interpret agency services/referrals to participants.
· Ensure appropriate services for participants with Limited English Proficiency (LEP).
· Evaluate participant needs upon exit and provide follow-up services as needed.
· Provide adequate items to meet client needs.
· Document and report child abuse to the Department of Children Services.
· Document and report applicable abuse to Adult Protective Services.
· Communicate with Program Manager and Night Staff by passing along case management information for the day.
Advocacy
· Assist victims with identification, expression of feelings and empowerment.
· Assist in building self-esteem, interpersonal communication and self-protection coping skills.
· Remain informed about domestic and sexual violence issues.
· Work in cooperation with other staff to ensure a comprehensive approach to meeting the needs of participants.
· Facilitate Adult Support Group
· Conduct individual sessions.
· Conduct domestic and sexual violence education and community outreach as assigned.
Shelter
· Communicate with on call Advocates and Night Staff reguarding participants and ensure services are provided to them.
· Assist Shelter Manager in maintaining Shelter Quality
· Ensure that empty room/beds are clean and ready for intakes.
· Assure clients have access to combination locks for personal lockers and providing room keys for room access.
Court Advocacy
· Intake/Assessments for Orders of Protection.
· Explain criminal justice procedures to participants.
· Prepare participants for what to expect from hearing.
· Refer participants to the appropriate officials in the criminal justice system.
· Act as a liaison with judicial, legal, and law enforcement systems, and educate when appropriate, about domestic and sexual violence issues.
· Appear with participants as Advocates in court.
· Maintain up-to-date list of referrals for clients to access services, such as Legal Aid.
Donations
· Although donations are the responsibility of the Shelter Manager, when Shelter Manager is not present it is the duty of the Advocates when needed.
Documentation and Confidentiality
· Maintain accurate documentation of all services provided.
· Ensure confidentiality of client and client service information.
Rape and Sexual Assault Response
· Be on-call for rape exams on a rotating basis.
· Properly document all rape exams when present.
· Be present for rape exams.
· Explain all options, including judicial, to victims.
· Provide referrals for victims of rape and sexual assault.
· Ensure a trauma-informed and empowerment based response.
Emergency
· Rotate on call to ensure continuous emergency coverage.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Crisis intervention and management skills
- Ability to work effectively with children and families in distress
- Familiarity with behavioral health and conflict management strategies
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $12.50 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 32 per week
