What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacist - 340B Program Specialist position at Genesis Prime Care?
Under the supervision of the COO, the 340B Program Specialist is responsible for the day to day management, compliance review and operations of clinic administered medications in eligible locations, mixed-use areas managed by split-billing software and outpatient prescriptions fulfilled by a contract 340b pharmacy. The 340B Program Specialist serves as the primary internal and external program specialist and liaison for all 340b related matters. The 340B program specialist provides oversight and assurance that qualifications for 340B program are both met and maintained, program is fully implemented in all areas of qualified use, and related records are both accurate and complete.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 340B Management:
- Serves as 340B subject matter expert, including re-certification, compliance, policies and procedures, operations issues, and split billing software.
- Ensures compliance with 340B program requirements of qualified patients, drugs and locations. Notifies COO when potential deviations are identified or suspected.
- Ensures program meets all primary objectives: compliance, maximum participation, and efficiency of 340B related processes.
- Assists other departments with implementation of programs consistent with all applicable rules and regulations.
- Monitors utilization records and purchasing accounts, in order to ensure that billing extract data and split billing software are working appropriately.
- Evaluates and corrects problems with accumulations or purchases.
- Establishes standardized processes for monitoring CDM/NDC split billing software crosswalk for additions, changes and accuracy of billing processes.
- Works with manufacturers, Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) and Apexus (340B prime vendor), in order to evaluate cost savings based on available contracts, and to obtain 340B pricing when not offered by manufacturers.
- Evaluates contract pharmacy arrangements and opportunities.
- Evaluates and provides analysis of provider opportunities
- Policy, Procedure and Compliance Development:
- Ensures that the 340B program is continuously compliant with 340B regulation.
- Maintains knowledge of the policy changes that affect the 340B program, including but not limited to HRSA/OPA rules and Medicaid changes.
- Develops training and competency materials for all staff and leaders who work with the 340B program.
- Ensures that policies and procedures are developed and implemented according to organization, regional, national, state and federal requirements and guideline and are approved by the institutions legal department.
- Develops regular compliance audit program.
- Supervises and coordinates the activities of the 340B program team (when available) or other support staff in their daily activity. Delegate’s assignments as needed to maintain smooth daily operations of the purchasing process as well as all associate drug distribution process (i.e. repackaging) and data base management.
- Works in conjunction with Medical Providers to maintain the formulary and provide ongoing formulary substitution program to keep medical providers current on 340b options.
- Is proficient with the Pharmacy Department’s current computer applications
- Develops and maintains all documents in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains a reference source of material pertaining to pharmaceutical purchases.
- Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Texas (or applicable state) Licensed Pharmacist
- Experience in 340b program administration
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
- Current knowledge of pharmacological/biopharmaceutical principles and medical terminology.
- Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding the provision of pharmaceutical services.
- Demonstrated competence in reacting to and handling emergencies.
- Able to work collaboratively with multiple health professionals in a busy and complex environment using tact, diplomacy, and discipline.
- Ability to understand and adhere to established policies, procedures, and protocols.

Schedule Rotates: Monday - Friday 8 am - 4 pm OR 10 am - 6pm
Saturdays 9 am -1 pm
