Summary
The Plant Manager is responsible for general supervision of all phases of plant operations including: safety, production, quality assurance, maintenance, receiving and shipping. Responsibilities also include recruiting, hiring and training personnel and facility/physical plant up-keep. The successful applicant will report directly to the Operations Manager and Vice President.
Responsibilities
- Spend 60% of time on floor oversight, 30% on office/admin and 10% on other (meetings, etc.)
- Promote positive employee relations by building an environment of trust and respect
- Provide every employee in the plant a safe, respectful and fair work environment
- Manage all plant activities to ensure goals are met for all KPIs, specifically: safety, quality, cost and delivery
- Coach, train and oversee supervisors
- Enforce policies and manage plant administration functions
- Meet plant targets by working in conjunction with corporate support groups such as Safety Manager, Continuous Improvement Team, Human Resources and Maintenance Team
Qualifications
Requirements
- Previous experience/broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in a key leadership/management role at a manufacturing facility
- Previous experience/strong understanding of budgeting/expense management
- Strong computer skills including the ability to learn ERP/MRP systems and use Microsoft Office Products to analyze data and trends
- Previous experience implementing and using continuous improvement tools such as problem solving, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing
- Wood product industry knowledge is a plus
