Description
The Warehouse Supervisor is expected to supervise and coordinate activities of the warehouse operations team engaged in assuring the safe handling of materials, preparing shipments including contracting with proper carriers, managing costs and keeping accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments. The successful candidate proactively looks ahead and works closely with the Operations leader, Plant Coordinator and Material Manager to hit all customer expectations.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensures the safety of all employees and the proper operation of material handling equipment
- Oversees incoming and outgoing material activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper condition of shipments
- Plans trucks for effective on time delivery to customers and within the company
- Coordinates with other plants on internal transfers
- Urgently addresses any customer needs
- Works to make sure truck resources are available when needed
- Collaborates with Plant Coordinator, Materials Manager and Plant Manager on production completion and shipping over the near term and future demand planning
- Compiles records of unfilled orders and communicates with Inside Sales on shipping/receiving changes, back orders, etc.
- Handles outbound transfer management
- Maintains accurate raw material counts and finished goods organization
- Assures proper 5S execution across all warehouse areas
- Oversees receiving procedures and performs cycle counting
- Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas
- Prepares bills of lading and other logistics related documents
- May assist workers in shipping and receiving activities
- Any other duties assigned by his/her supervisor, superior or a member of management.
Skills
- Bachelors degree preferred but not required
- 3 to 5 years of previous Warehouse & Logistics experience, including Material Handling expertise
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work within a fast-paced environment, individually and with a team
- Demonstrated composure in difficult situations
- Ability to focus on details and get things right the first time
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
