- Job Description Summary:
Mobile, Alabama Refinery PEI Team Lead is responsible for the site integrity management program and providing pressure equipment integrity assurance for the site. The role is responsible for ensuring that all pressure equipment is designed, fabricated, operated, inspected, maintained, modified and repaired in a manner that provides integrity in a cost effective and reliable manner.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Provide oversite to establish risk-based inspection schedules, identify corrosion threats, monitor equipment condition, analyze inspection data, document condition history, and make recommendations to ensure safe, reliable operation of pressure equipment
- Help ensure that all PEI Maintenance, Turnaround, and Project activities follow applicable laws, regulations, industry codes, standards, and recommended practices
- Serve as the PEI discipline approver for the Management of Change process
- Maintain a database of all PEI related equipment and piping including inspection and maintenance records
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance manuals, procedures, standards and other quality assurance documents, including revisions
- Support the approval of all inspection plans
- Own PEI metric reporting
- Make and/or validate Maximum Allowable Pressure and Temperature Ratings for new/used pressure equipment
- Rerate existing pressure equipment utilizing computer analysis and applicable ASME/API documents
- Interact with external fabricators for pressure equipment fabrication and/or modification.
- Validate and/or make materials (metallic and non-metallic) recommendations for corrosion resistance
- Validate and/or make API based sizing calculations for pressure relief devices
- Validate and/or recommend necessary pressure relief devices
- Validate and/or conceptualize designs for other miscellaneous mechanical equipment including performing stress analysis for strength calculations
- Provide troubleshooting, and technical support for inspection issues
- Provide guidance to technology development, design standards, and best practices in the inspection technology
- Interact with chemists and chemical engineers to build a basic understanding of processes
- Accountable for the PEI budget
- Communicate to the site PEI related incident outcomes
- Own PEI contractor contract approvals with site Contract & Procurement Team
- Maintain professional contacts within the PEI industry networkSupervisory Activities:
- Direct reports: 3 PEI Unit Inspectors & 1 PEI Engineer
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports to provide guidance, feedback, and professional development support
- Establish and track individual development plans to enhance technical competency and leadership growth
- Ensure time management best practices by prioritizing workload, balancing site needs, and approving time-off requests effectively
- Provide mentorship and coaching to inspectors and the PEI engineer to foster continuous learning and career progression
- Organize team training sessions on evolving industry standards, safety practices, and regulatory updates
- Accountable for performance and contract management of pressure equipment integrity 3rd parties for routine maintenance, project, and turnaround inspection work
- Continuously develop leadership competences by leading multi-discipline teams to accomplish site goals (abnormal situation management, management of change, causal learning activities)
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications:
- Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
- 5 to 10 years’ experience in refining/chemicals
- Basic understanding of Mechanical, Materials and Chemical Engineering.
- Basic Skills in Solid Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Metallurgy & Corrosion, Non-Metallics and Chemical Resistance
- Working knowledge of all PEI Related Codes Including:
o ASME Section VIII Division 1 and 2 Pressure Vessel Code
o ASME B31.3 Process Pressure Piping
o API 510, Pressure Vessel Inspection Code: In-Service Inspection, Rating, Repair, and Alteration

Basic Requirements:
- Work in an industrial environment; occasional outside work climbing ladders and stairs, entering confined spaces, lifting up to 50 lbs. sometimes in inclement weather
- Must be authorized to work in the United States permanently on a full-time basis without requiring sponsorship.
- Must possess and maintain a current valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
- Must be able to read, speak, and write English fluently.
- Hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card - Information may be found at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic.
- Adhere to site alcohol and drug standards including random drug screenings
- As part of the pre-employment selection process, candidates are required to submit to and receive satisfactory results from all pre-employment background checks including but not limited to drug screening (including a hair sample), medical evaluation, and reference checks.

Additional information:
The PEI Team Lead regularly communicates with diverse audiences from front line Operations staff through the site leadership team level. Interpersonal skills, team focus and ability to manage multiple tasks with varying needs and priorities are critical to success in this position. Individual must be willing to dedicate the time required during intense activities (e.g., unit upsets, T/A, etc.). Occasional off schedule work for short periods of time can be expected in these circumstances.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Work Schedule: 9/80 work schedule

Pay: $50.00 - $85.00 per hour
