Key Responsibilities
Data Pipeline Development & ETL/ELT Optimization
- Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources.
- Optimize data workflows for scalability, performance, and reliability across structured and unstructured datasets.
- Automate data processing using modern tools and scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
- Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database functions to support business needs.
- Optimize database performance through indexing strategies, schema design, and query tuning.
- Work with SQL Server
- Design and implement cloud-based data architectures using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks).
- Leverage cloud-native tools for data integration, orchestration, and storage.
- Implement best practices for data security, access controls, and compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2).
- Develop and manage API integrations for real-time and batch data exchanges between systems.
- Work with RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Support application teams in integrating backend data services efficiently.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability by implementing data validation, error handling, and monitoring.
- Support data governance policies to ensure regulatory compliance and data integrity.
- Develop documentation and metadata management processes for better data discovery and usability.
- Mentor and support junior data developers in best practices and problem-solving.
- Work closely with data analysts, software engineers, and IT leadership to understand and address business requirements.
- Participate in agile development cycles, providing expertise in sprint planning and code reviews.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, or database programming.
- Experience working in fast-paced, enterprise data environments with large datasets.
- Strong expertise in SQL (T-SQL, PL/SQL) and database administration.
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools (SSIS, Talend, Informatica, Apache Airflow).
- Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for data automation.
- Experience with cloud-based data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Azure Synapse).
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) for data deployments.
- Experience working with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for troubleshooting complex data challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work in an agile environment.
