* This per diem Chemotherapy Infusion Nurse opportunity is for medical oncology located in Miami, Florida. No nights, weekends or holidays!
The medical support staff at GenesisCare a specifically trained group of individuals who have demonstrated expertise in dealing with patients and their special needs. The Registered Nurse assists the Physician, as needed, to ensure the health and safety of our patients during all aspects of their care.
What you’ll do:
- Remain with the Physician at all times in the exam room unless asked to step out or sent to schedule a study
- Assist the doctor in all aspects of the patient's initial consultation, and:
Weekly status checks
Routine follow-up examinations
Any emergency visits that are needed.
- Scheduling and follow-up on all diagnostic studies that are ordered including proper documentation and obtaining Physician's signature on test result
- Responsible for acquiring results and documenting said results on all interim reports to the Physician and then to the chart
- Charting information of patient progress on weekly status check sheets and scuts and providing copies of notes (scut) to Front Desk Receptionist
- Drawing of blood for various lab tests that are sent out and following up on results of lab including obtaining Physician's signature on test results
- Attending annual OSHA/Biomedical update meetings and application in the clinical setting of the updates
- Documentation of medications that the patients are currently taking, and document any new medications prescribed by our Physicians while under our care to include the name of the medication, dose and amount prescribed, Physician prescribing, instructions, date and Nurse's initials
- Documentation of any samples given to patient
- Responsible for charting patient's vital signs, initial weight, and all follow-up weights
- Verifying that the allergy sticker is complete
- Once aware, responsible for reporting or verifying all patient problems and reporting to appropriate personnel
- Maintain HIPAA rules and regulations as it applies to patient privacy
- Maintain open communication with front desk, Physician, and other staff as it applies to:
Patient add-ons
Patients on treatment breaks
Changes in treatment plan
- Maintain licenses
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Florida state RN license in good standing
- Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital.
- Experience in chemotherapy and biotherapy infusion treatments.
- Experience in IV therapy.
- The ability to assess patient needs and condition.
- Strong critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Current CPR & BLS certifications.
- Fluency in the English language with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Professional and reliable
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrates care and compassion in dealing with patients
- Ability to multitask and be detail-oriented
- Minimum of 1 year as a Registered Nurse
- Experience in oncology preferred, but not required
