Position: Program Coordinator

Mission:

Genesys Works is a nonprofit organization that trains and employs high school seniors to participate in internships at major corporations. Our mission is to enable students from historically marginalized communities to enter and thrive in the economic mainstream by providing them with the knowledge and work experience required to succeed as professionals. The Program Coordinator is crucial to fulfilling this mission as this role is the organization's direct liaison between our students and corporate supervisors.

Purpose of Position:

In our Bay Area office, we are looking for enthusiastic individuals who can lead, motivate, and mentor youth in a manner that helps transform promising students into young professionals. As a Program Coordinator (PC), you will provide direct service to our high school and alumni interns by implementing the Genesys Works core model which includes:

• Providing professional support and guidance to a cohort of interns during a year-long internship,
• Facilitating strong, supportive relationships between interns and their site supervisors
• Delivering our college and career success programming, and
• Leading a cohort of participants in our yearly Summer Training program.

Responsibilities

• Teach our professional skills curriculum to students during an eight-week summer training program
• Develop trusted relationships with students to mentor and encourage them throughout the program
• Lead team meetings of Genesys Works students during the school year where you assist them in choosing a career path, applying to colleges, and securing the financial aid to be successful in college
• Rate and evaluate student performance to assist in the internship placement process
• Manage relationships with corporate clients to ensure that client and student issues in the workplace are dealt with effectively
• Monitor intern performance in the workplace and support with motivational best practices
• Work with guidance counselors and teachers at targeted high schools to identify and recruit appropriate students for Genesys Works
• Manage projects, including planning student events and coordinating student performance reviews
• Assist with new office initiatives in areas including, but not limited to, communications, fundraising, client recruitment, curriculum development, student recruitment, and alumni programming

This position is diverse and flexible regarding the type of work you will be doing but is centered on providing excellent support to our students in all phases of the program.

• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Professional demeanor and 2-3 years of relevant experience
• Strong presence and leadership in a training room
• People management skills
• Initiative to work independently while simultaneously maintaining a team focus
• Heart, humor, and a commitment to our youth development mission
• Ability to relate to and work with diverse populations
• A passion for learning, innovation, and excitement about implementing new ideas
• Project management skills, including strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure
• Comfort working with computers, databases, and Microsoft Office applications
• Four-year college degree, all majors considered
