What are the responsibilities and job description for the Videography and Photography Manager position at Geneva College?
Summary of Responsibilities: This position is responsible for ownership to the visual storytelling of Geneva College. This role will lead the video content strategy as well as provide photography expertise according to Geneva’s needs for both print and electronic material, including but not limited to, publications, website, social media, and email. Work must promote Geneva and relate to Geneva’s varied audiences – prospective students and their families, current students, alumni, and donors, etc. - and follow Geneva’s brand guidelines. This individual will work closely with the Associate Director of Integrated Marketing and Brand as well as the Social Media Manager to produce quality video both in short-form and long-form content for specific media uses and the needs of clients across campus.
Essential Responsibilities: (These essential responsibilities are those the individual must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.)
- Videography (approx. 50%)
- Creates and leads direction for video content strategy to effectively highlight Geneva across platforms for marketing, recruitment and internal purposes.
- Produces, records, and edits videos to final versions, incorporating feedback from clients and team members
- Knowledgeable of proper video files and their use cases on the web and social media platforms and staying informed of new trends in videography
- Trains and supervises student video interns.
- Manages schedule of video requests and projects as needed.
- Photography (approx. 25%)
- Takes professional photos of people, events, and facilities for electronic and print use.
- Organizes, edits, and catalogs photos for use in marketing projects as needed
- Trains and manages student photography interns and manage freelance photographers as needed
- Prioritizes availability and manages photo assignments as needed.
- Supervision (approx. 25%)
- Supervise student employees to include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning/directing work, coaching, evaluating performance, affirming, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Qualifications:
- Minimum:
- Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Videography or Photography, Integrated Media, Visual Communication, or a related field.
- Experience: One to two years in videography, photography or related field.
- Skill/Abilities: Proficiency in computer software including Adobe Suite (Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro, InDesign, etc.) and other various photo and video editing tools. Familiarity with photo hosting tools like Flickr. Ability to work with camera and video equipment and professional accessories. Ability to manage multiple projects with excellence and meet established deadlines, coordinating workflow of photography and videography. Ability to work collaboratively with a team and with multiple “clients” across campus.
- Must provide an up-to-date portfolio of work demonstrating applicable photography and video skills.
- Christian Commitment: An eligible candidate must be a thoughtful and articulate Christian and an active member of a Protestant evangelical Christian church. Preference will be given to the candidate who supports and has an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith. An eligible candidate must understand and support the College’s “Foundational Concepts of Christian Education” by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work.
- Preferred:
- Experience: Three to five years in a field that involved photography and/or video work along with graphic design in a professional setting.
- Experience operating a drone for video work.
- Strong portfolio of work showing range
- Experience in a supervision or supervisory training position and project management skills
