LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 12-month position
JOB GOAL: The Director of Operations is responsible for the supervision of the O&M Coordinators and the operation, maintenance, improvement, safety, and security of buildings, grounds, and related equipment at all district facilities. This individual develops and maintains comprehensive preventive maintenance, energy management, staff development, training, product testing, facilities improvement, life safety and other related programs. They also plan for, develop, implement, and manage all capital improvement efforts for the district while supporting maintenance functions and operations necessary to ensure facilities are maintained in good working order. The director is responsible for fostering a positive working relationship between Building Administration and Operations & Maintenance.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
Provides supervision of the Operations & Maintenance Coordinators
Works with staff, building administration and district to achieve the goals contained in the district's strategic plan.
Assists the principals and other administrators to develop physical facilities to support the development, implementation, evaluation, and modification of curricular and instructional programs.
Works with appropriate district administration and building administrators to provide leadership in fostering professional growth of operations staff through staff development and other professional enhancement opportunities.
Maintains the district Facilities Condition Assessment (FCA) through deliberate, cyclical, ongoing coordination with the schools and district leadership. Annual updates to the FCA will reflect the available fiscal commitment of the District as well as take into consideration Health/Life Safety (H/LS) and the building system's lifecycle status.

Works with appropriate personnel to develop, monitor, and operate within the limitations of the O&M Budget as well as the Capital Improvement Budget.
Ensures that facilities meet district custodial, maintenance, safety, and security standards.
Develops and coordinates a comprehensive preventive maintenance program, an energy management program, and a safety program.
Develops guidelines, standards and procedures to ensure quality performance of the custodial, grounds and maintenance staff.
Develops, coordinates, and administers an ongoing Facilities Improvement Program.
Ensures compliance and reporting with state and local required facility mandates, including but not limited to Health/Life Safety (H/LS), water testing, and the local educational agency (LEA) compliance.
Responsible for district facilities compliance and inspection requirements.
Represents the district in dealing with architects, engineers, construction managers, and contractors.
Provides field observation and written reports for repair, construction, or major maintenance projects. Ensures that work performed by outside contractors complies with drawings and specifications.
Facilitates and coordinates punch list activities after the capital projects are completed.
Secures permits and other regulatory approvals before construction begins. Coordinates required site or facility inspections during construction. Ensures “Occupancy” permits are in place when classes resume every school year.
Ensures that as-built records are maintained for all construction and major maintenance work performed by outside contractors or district personnel, updates CAD building files, and maintains drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and all project documents.
Coordinates developing and maintaining up-to-date CAD school safety plans and supports the schools and the Director of Safety and Security in constantly improving the district safety plan initiatives.
Ensures the district work order system is functioning and efficient.
Works cooperatively with Assistant Superintendent for Business Services, local units of government and other organizations to develop and implement interagency partnerships that are beneficial to the operation of the district.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Works with Assistant Superintendent for Business Services to negotiate and implement operations-related contracted services.
Collaborates with district and building leadership to ensure equity is infused in practice and remains at the forefront of efforts to disrupt inequities.
Maintains and updates the O&M Standard Operating Procedure repository.
Collaborates with the Business Office to plan for and carry out needed bids and bid renewal for district operations goods and services in compliance with State of Illinois procurement laws.
Maintains working knowledge of the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Life Safety Code (LSC).
Monitors and reinforces all fire and safety regulations to ensure that the buildings and grounds are protected from fire and hazards. Coordinates all fire, safety and regulatory inspections.
On call 24 hours a day in case of District emergency.
Directs interoffice mail and district delivery services at district facilities.
Performs other tasks assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Business Services.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $135,000.00 - $155,000.00 per year
