The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The RN on 3 North develops specialized skill in the area of patient admitted for medical conditions. He / She provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions. The 3 North RN is accountable for patient family education to assist in understanding self care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The 3 North Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a Healing Environment.
