Job Description
The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The OR RN develops specialized skill in the area of patient admitted for medical conditions. He / She provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions. The Endo RN is accountable for patient family education to assist in understanding self care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The OR Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a Healing Environment.
- Applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care.
- Assesses patient / family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness (being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do), and analyzing data or information obtained through direct observation / assessment, technology, or health team communication. Creates a developmentally and age appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address the nature and scope of the health problems identified. In collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team members, sets goals and monitors the patient's progress. The RN adjusts the plan based on patient response or change in condition / reprioritization of needs.
- Promotes, advocates for and protects the health, safety and rights of the patient. Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to accomplish the best possible patient outcome.
Teaches others as appropriate and delegates tasks and interventions consistent with the individual's education, training, and scope of practice. Understands the personal responsibility to safeguard public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies.
Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve a potential contact with blood, body fluids, and tissues.
