POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Concrete Operations Manager, the Laborer/ Operator maintains the production of concrete blocks, ensures cleanliness of yard area and plant, and operation of loader.
DUTIES:
- Responsible for yard clean up, pouring and breaking down concrete blocks, and plant maintenance.
- Preventative plant maintenance such as greasing and jackhammering,
- Be committed to landscape and plant cleanliness.
- Willing to fill in on Loader when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
- General knowledge of concrete, basic knowledge of heavy equipment and industrial plant functions.
- Attention and commitment to safety.
- Must be able to follow directions and work well in a team environment.
- Must be willing to work long hours in extreme outdoor temperatures and be able to safely move at least 100 pounds.
- Hours may vary.
- Position is subject to winter layoff
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/SAFETY:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
- Sitting: 20% of time
- Standing: 80%of time
- Driving: Will drive/operate a loader and occasionally a company truck.
- Weight Lifted: Must frequently be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds. May occasionally lift items above their head. For safe lifting, coworkers can assist with heavy objects.
- Physical Movement: May frequently be required to climb ladders, walk over uneven ground, balance, stoop/crouch, kneel, grab and hold objects.
- Speaking / Listening: Needs to be able to communicate well with customers, co-workers, supervision, receive and follow instructions, and understand safety requirements. Spanish speaker preferred.
- Working Conditions: 100% of time will be spent working outside in the elements.
- Safety: Operation of Concrete Vibrator, Spray Can, and Assisting in Loading the Blocks that require use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
