Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Traffic Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians around construction sites. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Experience with heavy equipment operation is a plus.
Duties
- Direct traffic flow around construction sites to ensure safety for both workers and the public.
- Set up and maintain traffic control devices, including cones, signs, and barriers.
- Monitor site conditions and communicate with construction teams to coordinate safe operations.
- Assist in utility locating and ensure that all underground utilities are marked before excavation begins.
- Operate heavy equipment as needed, including backhoes, dump trucks, front loader trucks, graders, and bulldozers.
- Collaborate with site supervisors to implement traffic control plans effectively.
- Conduct regular inspections of traffic control setups to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Requirements
- Previous experience in traffic control or related field preferred.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation, including but not limited to Caterpillar machinery, dump trucks, backhoes, and graders.
- Knowledge of construction site safety protocols and utility locating practices is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey instructions clearly to team members and the public.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to follow safety guidelines meticulously.
