Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team at a Level II Trauma Center. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.
- Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs, ensuring the safety of both mother and child.
- Administer medications as prescribed and manage intravenous (IV) lines.
- Assist with catheterization and other necessary medical procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with hospital policies.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and families on labor processes, pain management options, and newborn care.
- Participate in diagnostic evaluations and trauma medicine as needed within the unit.
- Ensure compliance with all health regulations and safety protocols.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Previous experience in Labor and Delivery nursing or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of medical documentation practices including ICD-10 coding.
- Familiarity with internal medicine principles and trauma medicine is advantageous.
- Strong ability to perform diagnostic evaluations effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
