Responsibilities
- Accurately calculate import and export tariffs based on product classifications, country of origin, and applicable trade agreements.
- Complete necessary shipping paperwork including invoices, packing slips, and customs forms. Verify and prepare necessary customs documentation like invoices, packing slips, and certificates of origin to ensure accurate tariff application.
- Collaborate with customs brokers to submit customs declarations, address tariff-related inquiries, and manage customs clearance processes.
- Monitor changing tariff regulations, identify potential compliance risks, and ensure adherence to international trade laws.
- Track shipment status, coordinate with carriers, and notify relevant parties about potential tariff-related delays.
- Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipment based on customer orders.
- Create shipping labels with accurate addresses and barcodes as needed.
- Select appropriate shipping carriers and schedule pick-ups.
- Properly package items to prevent damage during transit.
- Input shipment details into company inventory and shipping management systems.
- Follow all shipping regulations and safety procedures.
- Efficiently manage multiple orders and prioritize tasks.
- Effectively interact with internal teams and external carriers.
Requirements
- 5 years of shipping experience
- Strong understanding of international trade regulations and customs procedures
- Familiarity with Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes for product classification
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Ability to accurately handle sensitive information and ensure correct order fulfillment
- Ability to lift and move heavy packages regularly
- Proficiency in shipping software and inventory management systems
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
