Looking for a supportive, high-paced, friendly work environment with a chance to make a real difference in Indianapolis? Gennesaret Free Clinics is seeking a full-time Volunteer Coordinator. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the volunteer program for GFC. The Volunteer Coordinator will serve as the organization’s liaison for the volunteer program.
Gennesaret Free Clinics has a 35-year history of serving individuals experiencing homelessness, those without medical insurance and the medically underserved, providing them access to high-quality, compassionate, and FREE healthcare. Volunteers are an integral part of our organization!!! We are seeking candidates who can leverage current volunteers, recruit new volunteers, and create new volunteer opportunities within the organization all while providing our volunteers with impeccable customer service and care.
Objectives of the Volunteer Coordinator:
Volunteer Coordinatopn & Recruitment:
- Identify and engage in opportunities to recruit new volunteers to staff clinics and other organizational volunteer opportunities
- Follow up on new volunteer leads
- Using Galaxy Digital, complete all role-specific credentialing and onboarding activities with new volunteers, including re-credentialing as needed.
- Educate prospective volunteers about opportunities and expectations
- Using Galaxy Digital, schedule volunteers to staff clinics (SVdP, Dental, Mobile, Gleaners)
- Assist the Clinic Manager to manage clinical rotations/residency programs as needed
- Communicate clinic schedule internally
- Receive and act upon feedback from volunteers
Volunteer Compliance:
- With oversite from the Director of Patient Services, complete submission of the annual Federal Torts Claim Act (FTCA) deeming applications
- Maintain up-to-date and complete files on volunteers
Volunteer Engagement & Appreciation:
- Serve as the face of communication between Gennesaret Free Clinics and volunteers
- Build and carry out a volunteer appreciation program
- Develop meaningful relationships with volunteers to assess and grow engagement strategy for each volunteer
Other Job Duties:
- Participate in Quarterly Volunteer Medical Leadership Committee meetings.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Volunteer Coordination/Management experience is required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience in Customer Service
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transporation
- Certified Volunteer Administrator (CVA) preferred

Work Hours: This person is expected and allowed to flex your time to train a volunteer on a Thursday evening or Saturday morning. 40-hour work week, Monday-Friday from 8a-5p with an hour for lunch.

- This position will primarily be an indoor position, but there will be times when the position requires comfort working in outdoor environments. This position is very active and frequently requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee/member is regularly required to communicate with individuals who talk and hear.
- The employee/member may occasionally lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.

Travel: You will be expected to travel locally between the administrative offices, clinics, and event locations
