Position Summary:
The ACT program, which stands for Access to Collaborative Treatment, is a comprehensive model of care that emphasizes collaboration between primary care and mental health providers. This integrated approach ensures that social, emotional, and cognitive factors contributing to physical symptoms are effectively identified and addressed. ACT services support individuals experiencing a wide range of mental and emotional challenges, including—but not limited to—trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, chronic pain, suicidality, and childhood disorders.
ACT adopts a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centered framework. It acknowledges the impact of environmental and systemic barriers on individuals’ health and well-being and leverages evidence-based interventions such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behavioral Activation, Problem-Solving Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. The ACT Clinician provides counseling and support for various mental health concerns, empowering clients to navigate and address their personal challenges. Services offered include mental health screenings and follow-ups, crisis intervention, short-term therapy, case management, and referrals to additional resources as needed.
ACT Clinicians are integrated into the medical outpatient clinic and work in close collaboration with the medical team.
Education:
- Master’s degree in a human services-related field such as Psychology, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Social Work.
Experience:
- Successful completion of an accredited graduate-level program.
- Minimum of one year of experience providing direct clinical services to individuals, families, and groups.
- Proven proficiency in key clinical areas including assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and counseling (individual, family, and group), along with strong clinical documentation skills.
Licensure/Certification:
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain licensure in the state of Alaska (LMFT, LPC, LBHP, or LCSW) within six months of hire.
- Documentation supporting current professional certifications and licensure is required.
- Consideration will be given to COVID-related licensing delays.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and standard office equipment.
Specialized Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and experience working effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to collaborate within interdisciplinary teams, build consensus, and implement change.
- Skilled in building rapport with clients from varied backgrounds.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
