What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diabetes Educator RN position at GENNTE Technologies?
Position Qualifications:
- Must have completed a program of education in nursing from an NLN approved institution.
- Minimum Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
- BSN or MSN preferred.
- New graduates (with relevant license-see below) may be considered.
- Two (2) years experience in a clinical health setting preferred.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with a variety of disciplines for project completion.
- Background in Diabetes Education preferred.
- Valid license in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Must obtain valid CDCES (Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist) certification within 2 yrs.
- Preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Work in a typical office, hospital, and village clinic setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of PC computers.
- Ability to operate diabetes care medical equipment such as glucometer, ht./weight scale, etc.
- Requires travel to villages via small plane/sub-arctic conditions, moderate lifting of equipment, occasional long working hours.
- Strong knowledge base in the field of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and public health.
- Cross cultural communication skills essential.
- Bi-lingual (Yup’ik/English) preferred
