What are the responsibilities and job description for the Opthalmic Technician position at GENNTE Technologies?
Specific Duties:
Provide excellent eyecare at the hospital and in village clinics.
Provides outpatient care for patients of all ages with eye related disorders and conditions.
Provides complete documentation of exam in EHR including anterior and posterior evaluations of the eyes, dilates eyes when appropriate, orders and completes additional office procedures when appropriate, prescribes medication/glasses/contact lenses/vision aids/therapy, completes assessment and plan, patient education among others.
Practices optometry to the full scope of licensure.
Consults with other health care practitioners for co-management of eye diseases and systemic conditions.
Refers patients to trusted specialists as needed and follows up on results and reports.
Educates patients on proper eye care including eye hygiene and safety.
Has excellent customer service and organizational skills.
Willing to be flexible with their time, although off hours are rare.
Ability to adapt to and accept variable situations that may impact care delivery.
Works well under variable conditions and in a rural area.
