Genovesi Construction is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our dynamic team in Connecticut. As a family-owned and expanding union company, we specialize in comprehensive commercial site work with a strong emphasis on utility installation. Our talented and diverse team works on a variety of projects across the state, including commercial, municipal, and state initiatives, either independently or as subcontractors to larger companies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for site preparation projects including grading, earthworks, drainage systems, and utility installations.
- Review project specifications, blueprints, and related documents to understand scope and requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather all necessary data for cost estimation.
- Analyze proposals and bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
- Use software tools such as: HCSS HeavyBid and/or Bluebeam, for quantity take-offs and cost analysis.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, schedules, and project scopes to support the bidding processes.
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction phase to provide variance reports and cost control measures.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in construction estimating. Preferably in site work, utility, or heavy civil projects.
- Proficiency with construction estimating software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and civil engineering principles.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Good communication and negotiation skills for effectively collaborating with subcontractors, suppliers, and team members.
