This is not a remote role and you must be based within commutable distance of Rutherford, New Jersey. Must have experience in supply chain and logistics.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Traffic Manager strategically directs carrier sales activities, developing and executing a high-volume Carrier Program aligned with operational objectives. This role ensures efficient transportation execution, encompassing timely pickups and deliveries, cost optimization, and robust carrier relationship management. Additionally, the Traffic Manager provides leadership through performance management and development of direct reports, driving team success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Spearhead sales growth and enhance carrier consistency through a strategic Carrier Program aligned with company objectives.
- Manage carrier relationships, negotiating contracts and ensuring service levels meet automation needs.
- Maximize operational efficiencies by collaborating with Business Development/Sales and other company locations.
- Maintain company standards by partnering with Carrier Compliance on carrier evaluation and selection.
- Optimize capacity planning and load processing through effective utilization of applications and TMS (Transportation Management System).
- Manage carrier procurement P&L, including accessorial, lane management, and claim controls.
- Identify contract term rating opportunities in partnership with Sales and operational management.
- Analyze carrier performance data to identify improvement areas and collaborate with relevant teams to resolve service issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of experience managing and optimizing traffic programs.
- Extensive experience with carrier relations and operations.
- 2 years of experience in people management
