Job Description :
As part of the ProBio EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) department, the EHS Specialist will report to the EHS Manager and will ensure that facility operations are executed in compliance with all company EHS policies, procedures and programs and in accordance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities :
Duties of the EHS Specialist include developing, implementing, and monitoring programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment, assessing the workplace for unsafe conditions and acts, designing preventive measures, and ensuring adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations. The EHS Specialist leads EHS-training sessions for employees and designs effective EHS programs and methods of measuring EHS standards in the workplace. This role involves collaboration with various departments to promote safety awareness and achieve organizational goals and employee well-being.

- Administer all aspects of safety programs that empower employee and fosters their engagement in all areas of EHS.
- Oversee the hazardous and medical waste programs.
- Prepare, maintain, and submit all required safety and environmental reports
- Drive safety and environmental inspection and audit processes
- Spearhead the site's Safety Champion and Safety Observation Tour programs
- Champion the site's 3 Tier Safety Meeting format
- Serve as liaison for government agencies and company vendors associated with EHS programs
- Initiate site incident response and investigation process, including scene control and containment actions, initial root cause analysis and identification of corrective actions.
- Foster the visitor / contractor safety program
- Interact closely with visitors / contractors and initiate discussion to determine qualifications of work performed and issue associated EHS programs and permits (hot work, confined space, lifting operations, excavation, etc.)
- Implement all current site-based EHS aspects of company policies, procedures and programs and update and present new or updated internal EHS policies, procedures, and programs as needed
- Work with Facility Engineering, Operations (Facility), Security, and site leadership to develop and implement facility emergency action plans.
- Initiate the completion of PPE assessments, Risk Analysis, and Job Hazard Analysis to identify and mitigate job hazards
- Monitor safety and emergency equipment in accordance with federal, sate and local laws and regulations
- Work with leadership to develop and enforce EHS goals and strategies.
- Promote the proactive safety culture within the organization.
