What are the responsibilities and job description for the National Medical Director position at Gentiva?
We are looking for a Hospice Medical Director / Hospice Physician to support our team. This Hospice Medical Director:
- Certifies patient meets the medical criteria for hospice admission. Signs appropriate documentation to indicate the approval of the admission.
- Partners with the Admission Team to provide guidance and support.
- Attends, participates and collaborates the IDG meetings to ensure that the medical needs of the patients are met. Also provides oversight of the plan of care.
- Partners with the patient’s attending medical director/physician to develop and update the plan of care.
- Serves as a medical resource to hospice team, patients, families, and attending physicians regarding pain and symptom control management.
- Reviews clinical information prior to the recertification period and provides written recertification of terminal illness for subsequent benefit periods.
- Doctoral Degree in medicine (M.D.) or (D.O.) and current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of practice.
Should possess exemplary leadership skills with a passion for optimizing the care of patients with hospice and palliative care needs. - Possesses a reputation and positive image in the community as an authority in hospice and palliative medicine.
- Is familiar and skilled with working within an interdisciplinary setting.
- Experience with and ability to work within a distributed physician medical staff (or similar) structure.
- Current and valid National Provider Identifier (NPI)
