Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and efficient Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The Ideal candidate will be a fast learner and will be responsible for performing venipunctures while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and accurate specimen collection. This role requires adherence to strict safety protocols, compliance with healthcare regulations, and excellent communication skills.
Duties
Responsibilities:
Patient Safety and Comfort
- Verify patient identity and assess for allergies before procedures.
- Utilize sterile techniques and safe needle handling to prevent contamination.
- Minimize patient discomfort and advocate for patient needs throughout the process.
Specimen Collection, Processing, and Handling
- Verify laboratory orders and ensure proper documentation.
- Follow the correct order of draw to maintain specimen integrity.
- Ensure proper labeling, storage, and transportation of specimens.
Communication and Professionalism
- Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Demonstrate respect for diversity and practice active listening.
Compliance and Documentation
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and quality control measures.
- Report incidents accurately and promptly.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay updated on best practices.
Environmental Safety
- Implement infection control protocols to prevent cross-contamination.
- Dispose of biohazard waste safely and responsibly.
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace in compliance with health and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Certification in Phlebotomy (CPT) preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle specimens with care.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
