Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join the commercial construction team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase by providing accurate cost estimates and ensuring that projects are completed within budget. This position requires strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of construction management, and the ability to negotiate effectively with vendors and subcontractors.
Duties
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, and overhead.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop project budgets and timelines.
- Utilize construction estimating software such as HeavyBid to streamline the estimation process.
- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favorable pricing.
- Monitor ongoing projects for cost control and budget adherence.
- Conduct site visits to assess project scope and gather necessary data for accurate estimates.
- Maintain organized records of all estimates, contracts, and correspondence related to bidding processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of construction management principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using estimating software, particularly HeavyBid and Bluebeam.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate cost assessments.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Familiarity with construction site operations and safety regulations is preferred.
- A degree in Construction Management or a related field is advantageous but not required.
