About Us:
GEO Academies at Baker is a tuition-free, public charter school that serves students in grades K-8. Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from elementary to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Our curriculum and teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge in K-8 and a blended learning model in elementary school through high school.
REPORTS TO/TERM:
Principal and Administrative Team
Full-time, 10 months
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum and meet the needs of diverse learners
- Teach students the fundamentals of theatre, including acting, stagecraft, and production
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and respect
- Provide constructive feedback to students on their performances and help them to improve their skills
- Organize and direct school productions, including casting, rehearsals, and performances
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate theatre into other subject areas and school events
- Stay up-to-date with current trends and best practices in theatre education
- Maintain student records that measure student progress and achievement on related topics
- Manage Powerschool grading system to reflect student performance
- Reporting to work during assigned work times and delivering instruction bell to bell
- Attend to deadlines, scheduled meetings and professional developments
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Theatre or related field required
- Teaching certification or license preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching Drama for elementary students
- Strong knowledge of theatre history, theory, and practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students
- Passion for teaching and inspiring young people
