Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state standards and meet the needs of all students
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and growth
- Use a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to engage students and promote critical thinking
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive and effective learning community
- Attend professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in education
- Prepare students for strong academic achievement and passing of all required assessments
- Communicate regularly with parents
- Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data, providing daily feedback, weekly assessments, and occasional parent/teacher conferences
- Work with the Special Education teachers and administration to serve special needs students in the classroom
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom you are responsible
- Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff
Requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field
- Valid Indiana Professional Educator or Initial Practitioner certification (substitute license not accepted)
- Experience teaching 5th grade or similar age group
- Strong knowledge of subject matter and state standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff
- Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success
