Grant Accountant Position Remote
The Grant Accountant will perform the accounting and financial service functions for programs funded by state, federal, donor-prescribed grants, and other special revenue streams. These functions include all aspects of the grants from initial award and/or approval to final closeout and reporting. This position is responsible for grant management across multiple entities in a multi-state organization. The preferred candidate will live in the Indianapolis area, Gary, IN or the Baton Rouge, LA area.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain accurate accounting records for major grants including all supporting documents for audits including large, single program, Federal grants.
- Prepare all required grant journal entries associated with both cash and accrual bases of accounting.
- Collaborate with various accounting staff, payroll services staff and operational areas to accurately capture expenses.
- Prepare and submit timely reimbursement requests to support expenditures.
- Participate with other team members to develop efficient tracking tools utilizing NetSuite, Excel, and other software solutions as necessary to create an efficient, accurate tracking system.
- Provide timely closeouts for grants, including, but not limited to, final reports, Maintenance of Fiscal Effort reports, support for all federal monitoring requests, etc.
- Prepare all reports and information required to support Single Grant (formerly A-133) and other audits.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business
- 2 years’ experience with direct federal grant accounting, reimbursements, and management.
- Knowledge of NetSuite preferred but not required
- Strong ethics and integrity
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced multi-entity environment
- Mission and customer service-based mindset
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
