Are you a highly motivated and skilled Staff Geologist/Hydrogeologist seeking challenging projects, career advancement, employee ownership, and a great place to work? DBS&A is seeking a qualified and motivated technician to join our diverse technical team in our Albuquerque, New Mexico office. You will tackle a wide range of clients’ challenges related to contaminated sites, including site investigation/assessment; groundwater sampling; and construction oversight, operation, troubleshooting, repair, and upgrade of remediation systems.
DBS&A is a water resources, engineering, and environmental consulting firm providing comprehensive services in groundwater and surface water hydrology, and soil science. In this position, you will work hand-in-hand with a diverse range of educated professionals with backgrounds in hydrology and geology; soil and environmental science; civil, chemical, and environmental engineering; geographic information system (GIS) and computer drafting; and field and laboratory technology. You will tackle a wide-range of clients’ challenges related to management and development of natural resources and the environment, such as design and construction of landfills, development of water supplies, and or abatement of water quality impacts. Why we really want you in this job
- You want to put your bachelor’s degree in hydrology, geology, or closely related field to work in the field of water resources development and environmental services.
- You are knowledgeable about environmental sampling and monitoring protocols, and are looking to expand on your two or more years of professional experience that includes data collection and documentation related to field activities such as drilling and well construction oversight, site investigation (soil and groundwater), sampling of surface water, groundwater, and stormwater.
- You are OSHA HAZWOPER certified, and have familiarity with automated water samplers and monitoring systems for applications in wells, streams, weirs, and stormwater systems.
- You have experience working with state and federal environmental laws and regulations, and with state agencies such as the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer and New Mexico Environment Department.
- You are highly effective in your written and verbal communication and are comfortable addressing technical (e.g., other hydrogeologists, engineers) or layperson audiences as an effective public speaker.
More about this opportunity on a day-to-day basis
You will work with a team of highly talented individuals on a variety of small to large water resource and environmental projects, including water supply and development projects. Typical tasks for an entry- to mid-level geologist/hydrogeologist may include:
- Conducting field investigations, such as overseeing drilling activities and the design and installation of monitor wells and production wells
- Collecting soil samples, water level measurements, and groundwater, surface water, and stormwater samples
- Analyzing data and preparing technical reports
- Working on project teams with professionals who are motivated to provide high quality services to our clients
This position may require extensive travel, including possible evenings, weekends, and holidays, and requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and work in adverse weather conditions. This position requires possession of a valid Driver’s License with driving record acceptable to our insurer, and eligibility to work in the United States. Potential employees must pass a pre-employment drug screen, and undergo a pre-employment physical. Position level and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
