Geo. Pfau’s Sons Co., Inc. is looking for a 2nd shift Laboratory Technician in our Jeffersonville, IN production facility.
Pfau specializes in animal fats and oils used in a wide range of products, from industrial lubricants to inks. Pfau is looking for a laboratory technician to:
- Perform quality control tests on animal fats and oils
- Analyze samples of raw materials, work-in-process product, and finished products
- Assist the Research and Development Team with projects related to product quality and/or customer needs
The appropriate candidate for this position must have the following attributes:
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Be a self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision
- Be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds on occasion
Job Description:
- Perform wet chemistry tests including free fatty acid, peroxide value, soap, pH, KF moisture, specific gravity, viscosity, and color measurements
- Communicate results to plant supervisors and production operators
- Accurately make solutions used in testing
- Assist in calibration of lab equipment
- Assist in standardization of solutions
Qualifications:
- 2 years college chemistry preferred
- Previous industrial laboratory experience desired
- Knowledge of UHPLC and GC instrumentation a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, analytical instrumentation and techniques
