GEO Academy of EBR is a tuition-free, public charter school that serves students in grades K-12. Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to providing an outstanding education for the students each day as they transition from elementary to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. We are committed to providing our students with instruction that is standards-based and challenging, that meets the needs of each individual student enrolled. We firmly believe that “through our doors walk college graduates”. Through our partnership with local community colleges our students will be able to take dual credit courses with the opportunity to earn college credit at no cost to the student. Students who attend GEO Academy of EBR will graduate with a minimum of a Core-40 High School diploma and up to 60 college credits and their Associate’s degree.
REPORTS TO/TERM:
Principal and Administrative Team
This is a 10-month position.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
An ESL teacher is required to perform the following duties:
- Motivate and support students in reaching high levels of academic success.
- Assist and support regular classroom teacher.
- Teach small groups of students with several learning styles.
- Support a positive student culture around online learning.
- Ability to plan and customize lessons and curriculum.
- Maintain high behavioral expectations for all students.
- Interpret, manage, and utilize multiple sets of data to best support student progress.
- Perform targeted individual assistance and small group tutoring.
- Assist with the creation of individual learning plans for each student enrolled at NextGen Academy.
- Maintain frequent communication with students and their support network regarding academic progress.
- Communicate and collaborate with teachers and school administrators.
- Participate in staff development opportunities.
- Dress professionally and uphold all school policies.
- Perform other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the principal.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher with at least 24 credit hours in the content area
- ELL Certification or Louisiana Professional Educator license
- ELL teaching experience and testing regulations.
- Successful teaching experience in an urban environment
