Overview:
GEO Specialty Chemicals is seeking an experienced Millwright with a strong focus on rotating equipment maintenance to support our proactive maintenance initiatives. The successful candidate will play a key role in reducing unplanned downtime by addressing the backlog of preventive maintenance (PMs) while supporting daily reactive maintenance tasks, including call-outs for emergency repairs. The position will also involve troubleshooting, repairing, and improving equipment reliability across a dynamic and fast-paced production environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Rotating Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform inspection, repair, and replacement of pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, and other rotating equipment.
- Align and balance rotating equipment using precision tools and techniques.
- Dismantle, rebuild, and install machinery and subcomponents to ensure smooth operation.
- Preventive Maintenance (PM):
- Address the existing backlog of PM tasks, focusing on equipment reliability to break the reactive maintenance cycle.
- Execute tasks such as pump replacements, shaft alignments, bearing inspections, and lubrication of machinery.
- Support the demo and replacement of deteriorated pump assemblies and components.
- Reactive Maintenance and Call-Outs:
- Respond to emergency call-outs to troubleshoot and repair equipment failures promptly, ensuring production continuity.
- Diagnose malfunctioning equipment, identify root causes, and execute corrective actions efficiently.
- Document all repairs and downtime events accurately.
- Rigging, Assembly, and Installation:
- Perform rigging, moving, and installation of heavy equipment using cranes, hoists, and rigging tools.
- Install new equipment, ensuring proper foundation, alignment, and secure fastening.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, LOTO procedures, and compliance with plant safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to housekeeping standards.
- Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:
- Work closely with the maintenance manager and operations team to prioritize tasks and align maintenance efforts with plant goals.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability and reducing unplanned downtime.
- Assist in identifying areas for mechanical and operational improvements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Millwright in an industrial or chemical plant environment, with a strong emphasis on rotating equipment.
- High School diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications are a plus.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Experience with precision tools for alignment, vibration analysis, and measurements.
- Ability to respond to call-outs, work 12-hour shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Physically capable of working in hot, cold, and fast-paced environments, and performing work at heights and confined spaces.
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to protocols.

All GEO Specialty Chemicals, Inc. employees are required to undergo pre-employment physicals and drug testing, as well as respiratory fit testing. Other site-specific testing may be required.
