What are the responsibilities and job description for the Geotechnical Field Technician position at Geo-Technology Associates, Inc.?
Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Field Technician to join our team. Candidates with an interest in building a career in the construction observation, environmental and/or geotechnical consulting fields are preferred. As a Technician, you will provide a wide range of construction oversight services for geotechnical and environmental focused projects. You will provide field support to geologists, engineers, and scientists for a diverse client base in the private, state and government sectors.
Some of the daily responsibilities for a Geotechnical Engineering Field Technician include:
- Perform field and on-site laboratory tests on soil, concrete, asphalt and other materials; Field testing involves moisture and density testing of soils, preparing sample specimens of soils, and nuclear density testing of compacted material
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or high school diploma/GED
- Own reliable transportation, valid driver’s license; and satisfactory driving record
- Ability to lift to 60 pounds regularly
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, self-motivated, possess a strong work ethic
- Enjoy Working Outdoors
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available
- NICET and/or ACI certifications - These are a plus, but not required
- Must have steel toe boots
This position may require standing for extended durations as well as repetitive motions such as lifting or hammering. The employee must have the ability to use their hands to handle, finger or feel; reach, climb or balance; crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit, see and smell; including close, distance and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus. The employee will regularly lift and/or move 60 pounds; and occasionally move 80 pounds or more (such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete or soil samples).
GTA will provide you with Personal Protective Equipment, which includes High Visibility Vest, Hard Hat, Gloves, and Safety Glasses.
