POSITION PURPOSE:
This position calls for a candidate with solid CONSTRUCTION accounting experience. The hired candidate will work/train under the direction of the current Controller who has been with the company for 20 years. Responsibilities encompass all aspects of accounting, finance, job cost reporting, financial analysis and human resource reporting. This position will interface with all functions and office personnel within the organization as well as manage relationships with bank, bonding and insurance executives. This position requires personnel management experience. The position will require On-site work in the beginning but could develop into a Hybrid work environment. SALARY is based on EXPERIENCE and CAPABILITIES. Indicated range is negotiable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide support to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting for all aspects of accounting management.
2. Accounting functions and related activities including, but not limited to GL, Month-End Closing, AP and AR aging, Inventory, Union and government reporting, insurance certificates and OCIP enrollments and monthly WIP reviews.
3. Thorough understanding of Job Costs, Indirect Costs vs Overhead Costs.
4. Manage journal entries, including intercompany entries to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances.
5. Human Resource functions including 401K Plan, Prevailing Wages, Employee Benefits, Workers Compensation and employment related issues.
6. Quarterly payroll tax reporting, insurance audits, depreciation schedules, amortization schedules and asset management.
7. Preparation for audits.
8. Preparation of the annual budget with monthly budget vs actuals analysis.
9. Participate in preparation for monthly, quarterly, annual reporting.
10. Liaison between accounting staff, sales, project management, HR and field to ensure accurate and timely information.
11. Oversees full spectrum of commercial insurance programs.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. 5 years of experience in construction industry accounting.
2. A minimum of two (2) years' recent experience as a Controller with responsibility for accounts, budgeting, job cost accounting, credit and collections, and finance.
3. Excellent knowledge of accounting principles in accordance with GAAP Standards, regulations, budgeting, finance and cost control. Highly skilled in math.
4. Proficiency in accounting software, MS Office with strong Excel skills.
5. Must have strong experience creating queries.
6. Proficient knowledge of Construction Accounting Software and Foundation software experience a plus.
7. Strong personnel management experience.
8. Keen analytic, organizational, problem-solving and critical thinking skills with ability to prioritize.
9. Strong work ethic, personal qualities of integrity and professionalism in dealing with confidential information. High degree accuracy with detail-oriented work.
10. Most possess good written, verbal and communication skills with the ability to work as a team player.
