Job Description: CAD Technician, Land Survey

Summary/Objective:
GeoPoint is a land surveying company with multiple locations, specializing in land development, remote sensing, geospatial mapping, commercial surveys and subsurface utility engineering.
A CAD Technician, generally known as a draftsman, uses CAD software to create technical drawings and plans for products and parts used in the engineering, construction, and manufacturing industries.
CAD technicians work with architects and design engineers to understand the requirements of their initial designs and turn them into accurate and detailed technical drawings in 2D and 3D models.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform due diligence research and analysis, including property boundaries, easements, and land records.
- Assist in the preparation of survey reports, maps, plats and drawings.
- Ensure accuracy and precision in all field surveying data collection prior to mapping.
- Collaborate with project managers, surveyors, and other team members to complete projects on time.
- Adhere to safety protocols and company policies during office tasks.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Follow company standards in the organization and creation of all survey mapping products.
- Keep up to date with all drafting and security software and processes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in surveying or geomatics.
- Proficiency with surveying related CAD products, specifically Civil 3D.
- Strong understanding of surveying principles, methods, and techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to perform due diligence research and interpret legal descriptions from various land records.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment:
- Able to work overtime and some weekends.
- Able to work well in a team environment as well as being self-motivated and driven.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Regularly engage in sitting, standing, or walking activities.
- Occasionally handle lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling items of varying weights.
- Perform reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, or twisting motions as needed.
- Other physical requirements may arise depending on job tasks.
- Work may be conducted at a desk or workstation situated in confined areas.
- Experience moderate levels of noise indoors or outdoors.
- Flexibility to work overtime and occasional weekends as required.
- Ability to thrive in both team-oriented settings and independently, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative.
- Some travel may be required.
