Job Title: Construction CAD Technician
GeoPoint is a land surveying company with multiple locations, specializing in land development, geomatics, geospatial mapping, commercial surveys, and subsurface utility engineering.
Summary/Objective:
The Construction CAD Technician utilizes CAD software to create precise technical drawings and plans for products and parts used in engineering and construction. The Construction Technician collaborates closely with architects and design engineers to comprehend the requirements of initial designs and transform them into accurate and detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings and models. This role demands a blend of technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively interpret and execute design specifications.
Essential Job Functions:
- Prepare record drawings from As-Built Surveys.
- Assist with calculating staking sheets for field crews.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, field crews, and the Construction Technician Manager.
- Assist with QA/QC.
Qualifications:
- Construction Surveying background.
- Degree from a Technical School or College.
- Knowledgeable in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar software.
- Strong organizational skills, problem solving, and a team player.
- Ability to read and understand civil & architectural plans.
- Use GeoPoint server file system to catalog all data.
- Utilize GeoPoint layering system.
- Utilize GeoPoint styles.
- Complete GeoPoint Beginner CAD courses.
- Understand dimensioning and orientation.
- Import survey data.
- Able to meet deadlines.
- Able to revise redlines and send them to the signing surveyor.
- Able to communicate with field crews if work is missing.
- Complete GeoPoint Intermediate CAD courses.
- Understand different municipalities’ requirements.
- Have field experience.
- Able to peer review fieldwork.
- Understand how to read a plat.
- Understand how to read construction plans.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Regularly engage in sitting, standing, or walking activities.
- Occasionally handle lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling items of varying weights.
- Perform reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, or twisting motions as needed.
- Other physical requirements may arise depending on job tasks.
- Work may be conducted at a desk or workstation situated in confined areas.
- Experience moderate levels of noise indoors and outdoors.
- Flexibility to work overtime and occasional weekends as required.
- Ability to thrive in both team-oriented settings and independently, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative.
