Your tasks
- The Environment, Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the management of all safety programs (incident investigation, peer-peer safety program), audits, and training requirements for the facility as well as any environmental matters that need to be addressed.
- Performs and coordinates monthly and annual workplace audits.
- Conducts regular tornado and fire drills and reports results to facility management.
- Coordinates annual hearing testing.
- Investigates work-related injuries and Safet GTD’s.
- Conducts safety onboarding for new hires.
- Completes daily safety walks.
- Facilitates monthly safety meetings.
- Maintains SDS system for facility.
- Creates and implements safety plans, ensuring they are being followed.
- Conducts regular safety observation.
- Attends safety walks and inspections before or during each project to analyze safety risks.
- Educates employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe machinery operation.
- Provides recommendations for improving safety in the workplace.
- Investigates work-related incidents and accidents and identifies possible causes.
- Maintains documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents and related events.
- Acts as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as fire and insurance personnel.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present training materials effectively to diverse audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work collaboratively with various teams and levels within the organization.
- Skilled in data tracking, report creation, and analyzing training metrics for decision-making.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate a multi-shift operation.
- Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements, including OSHA.
- Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma required.
- Bachelor’s degree in health and safety, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in safety and environmental role preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
- Registration as a Certified Safety Professional or similar form of licensure as a safety officer, including OSHA 30 advantagious.
- Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
- Exposure to machine noise.
- Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production area.
- Working conditions are normal for a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 25 pounds and working in and around heavy equipment.
- Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and work boots.
- This role may require walking in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
