Summary:
Manage an integrated Business Unit consisting of Metal Fabrication, High Volume Assembly, Powder Coating, Welding in a manufacturing setting. Manage the support functions in Materials, Manufacturing Engineering, Tool Engineering, and Maintenance. Additionally, oversee the operation and management of the production plant, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and efficiency standards while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise the manufacturing of all products in accordance with specifications and company policies
- Evaluate and discipline employees according to company policies
- Coordinate with Sales and marketing to achieve customer satisfaction in delivery of product
- Communicate production capacities, lead-times, and production issues affecting delivery dates
- Manage the Cost Reduction effort to continually reduce product manufacturing costs
- Responsible for the quality of all products based on engineering specifications
- Responsible to maintain a safe working environment for all employees
- Responsible for adhering to all environmental and safety
- Knowledgeable of Statistical Process Control monitoring
- Maintain a 40 hour week and the ability to work long non-climate controlled hours as needed
- Maintain product records and traceability according to industry and customer requirements.
- Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental and OSHAS 18001 certification requirements
- Maintain a high degree of knowledge in ERP/systems requirements and utilization
- Direct department heads in execution of their responsibilities in accordance with the manufacturing plan
- Analyze and maintain an employee level to achieve the sales and inventory plans.
- Coordinate with Product Management and Marketing to aid in design, manufacturing, testing and evaluation of new and existing product.
- Capable of conducting Root Cause Analysis and formalized Problem-Solving Methodology.
- A member of Senior Staff Management in execution of company strategies.
- Coordinate with Human Resources on staffing needs, requisitioning employees, identifying training needs and participating in company initiatives.
- Manage out-sourcing of selected products to maintain production continuity.
- Initiate and maintain periodic reporting to Top Management on various metrics.
- Maintain a leadership role in generally accepted manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, Statistical Process Control, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- Develop and maintain production schedules to meet quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
- Oversee maintenance and upgrades of production equipment to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to support product innovation and process development.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize plant operations
- Ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability practices within the production plant
- Develop and implement strategies to improve overall plant efficiency and reduce waste
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) specific to plant operations and initiate corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure proper training and development of plant personnel to meet operational goals
- Lead cross-functional teams
- Evaluate equipment needs for capacity and replacement, selecting the optimum equipment for the companys needs
- Responsible for methods improvements used to manufacture all products
- Support and participate in the overall EH&S programs
Knowledge and Skill Requirement:
This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:
- BS in Engineering or related Technical degree or at least 10 years experience in managing an integrated manufacturing operation from a key management position.
- A good understanding of Finance, including income statements, balance sheets, and budgets and planning.
- Oversee plant audits and certifications to maintain compliance with industry standards and customer expectations.
- Good communications skills with a key to listening, striving to be viewed as a person who treats all people with respect and fairness.
- A forward and long-range planner capable of looking out 5 years to plan for long-term complex
projects to improve the company. - An understanding of how your decisions affect the companys stability and profitability.
