What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at Georg Fischer?
Summary:
Assist in the overall operation of the department to issue components, work in process, warehouse, and transport raw materials, components, and finished goods on a timely basis.
There are 2 openings in this department. 12 hour overnight shift and a 1st shift position.
Primary Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Required to understand and follow all company policies and procedures.
- Required to understand and follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all guards and safety equipment have been installed and properly checked.
- Required to understand and follow work procedures as set forth by all ISO documentation.
- Required to perform daily safety inspections per lift per shift.
- Use wireless RF gun (SAP) to scan every location and every box/pallet, to pick, pack, and ship customer or manufacturing orders.
- Safely operate picking equipment; high-quality order picker, sit-down and stand-up forklift, jack stand, and electric pallet-jack to pick customer orders.
- Use computer to look up inventory levels and priorities.
- Safely operate forklift to load and unload trucks.
- Work overtime as needed to maintain customer service.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with co-workers, line lead, team leader, supervisor, and manager.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
- Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality, 14001 Environmental, and OSHAS 18001 verification requirements.
- Assist inventory control by reporting inventory deviations.
- Responsible to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
- Requires regular attendance per the schedule assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge and Skill Requirement:
This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:
- High school diploma or its equivalent, required
- Must have some previous verifiable forklift experience
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within manufacturing environment.
- Certified by Georg Fischer Central Plastics in the proper use and maintenance of lift trucks.
- Must be able to pass Georg Fischer Central Plastics test in the proper use and maintenance of lift trucks.
- Must be able to use SAP and understand priority scheduling system.
- Must be self-motivated to work quickly and accurately with little supervision.
- Must be able to work closely with others in a fast paced environment.
- Must be able to accurately handle all paperwork (pick tickets, receipt tickets, manufacturing orders, labor cards, MSTs)
- Must be a mature and responsible individual who is able to work without supervision.
Environmental / Atmospheric Conditions:
- Typical warehouse/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production areas as well as heat in the summer and cold in the winter.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50-75 lbs. in a safe manner.
- Exposure to sparks, chips, and dust (eye protection required).
- Must be able to perform repetitive motion. Examples: walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods of time.
- Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more with the ability to judge depth and space relationships and bring object into sharp focus.
- Must be able to accurately recognize and translate numbers without transposing.
- Exposure to machine noise levels (hearing protection required in manufacturing only).
- Exposure to heavy equipment or components needed to produce product (safety toed shoes required).
- Exposure to electrical and mechanical moving parts.
