Summary:
Responsible for the set-up and adjusting of the molding machines, molds and support equipment to produce the products to the product drawing and quality control standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Required to understand and follow all company policies and procedures.
- Required to understand and follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Sustain the 6S system throughout all production areas.
- Set up machines per the established mold setup sheets. Make and record deviations to the mold setup sheet on the Deviation Report.
- Required to understand and follow work procedures as set forth by all ISO documentation.
- Read and interpret blueprints.
- Required to maintain quality standards on all products.
- Required to maintain all production standards.
- Set-up the equipment selecting the proper molds, material, and support equipment to meet engineering and production standards.
- Ensure that all guards and safety equipment have been installed and properly checked out prior to operating or turning equipment over to an operator.
- Make adjustments to the equipment operated by Machine Operators.
- Check parts dimensionally with calipers and measuring tools to maintain engineering drawing tolerances.
- Responsible for conducting First Part dimensional and destructive testing.
- Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OSHAS 18001 certification requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Requires regular attendance per the schedule assigned by supervisor.
- Responsible to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
Knowledge and Skill Requirement:
This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:
- High school diploma or its equivalent, desired.
- Mechanical skills; must be able to operate and set-up machinery.
- Thorough, accurate and works error free.
- Understanding of process sheets.
- Must be able to perform all quality control checks within your department.
- Able to select the proper component parts required for a work center.
- Trained to perform certain preventative maintenance tasks at various work centers.
- Able to identify and report malfunctions in the operation of equipment.
- Capable of working with the floor inspectors to resolve quality problems.
- Programming and operations knowledge of all equipment within the Molding Departments.
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within manufacturing environment.
Environmental / Atmospheric Conditions:
- Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production areas.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. in a safe manner.
- Must be able to perform repetitive motion. Examples: walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods of time.
- Clarity of vision and the ability to focus on a fast and repetitious operation for extended period of time.
- Exposure to machine noise levels (hearing protection required).
- Exposure to heavy equipment or components needed to produce product (safety toed shoes required).
- Exposure to electrical and mechanical moving parts.
- Exposure to sparks, chips and dust (eye protection required).
- Exposure to extreme seasonal temperature conditions.
- Must be capable of maintaining a 12 hour work schedule and working overtime as needed.
